93. What It Takes to Run a Fandom Store: An Interview with Kali from Myth Adventures

In this episode, we sat down with Kali from Myth Adventures, an anime and gaming store in McAllen Texas!
We met Kali and her grandfather Helgi at A-Kon this year as they were our neighbors in the vendors' hall. Helgi has been running his business for over 30 years! And while it wasn't always an anime store, we wanted to know the behind-the-scenes of what it takes to run a successful anime business in the age of anime and nerd fandom becoming mainstream. How many family members does it take? Are conventions worth it? Is there competition? Do they have to wait for pre-orders as well? All of these questions and more will be answered!
And be sure to check out Myth Adventures, the oldest comic and gaming shop in the Rio Grande Valley, and tell Kali we sent you!
