83. Dead Leaves: A Punk-Rock Acid-Trip (Before Trigger Was Trigger)

There hasn't been a force as recognizable in the anime industry in the last ten years as studio Trigger. They have made a name for themselves for being groundbreaking visionaries of such classics as Gurren Laggan, Kill La Kill, and their most recent theatrical movie, Promare. But none of this would have been possible without the leading auteur Hiroyuki Imaishi. After Dan's failed attempt to ask Mr. Imaishi a question at an Otakon panel, way back in 2019, we decided to take a step back to revisit his directorial debut, Dead Leaves. Join us as we look at this 2005 classic that might have escaped your radar. Review starts at 38:40. linktr.ee/Otakuhostclub
